Over the summer, Detroit saw franchise icon Steve Yzerman step down from the role of general manager, forward Patrick Kane depart in free agency and current captain Dylan Larkin request a trade — an ask that remains unfulfilled with training camp less than a month away. "Sometimes it's good to just be at home," Seider said. "Get away from everything a little bit, focusing on your stuff, focusing on …

The 30-year-old told reporters that he spoke to Babcock numerous times since he was hired in May and reiterated that the Oilers aren't concerned about the baggage that accompanies Babcock — their singular focus is to get back to competing for the Stanley Cup, whatever it takes.
