The 29-year-old Novak was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 season.

The St. Paul, Minn., native was acquired by the Penguins in March 2025 from the Nashville Predators alongside Luke Schenn for Michael Bunting and a fourth-round pick.

Longtime Toronto Maple Leafs front-office staffer Brandon Pridham has joined the team as a hockey operations consultant, the club announced Wednesday .
Pridham, 52, spent 12 years with the Toronto Maple Leafs, most recently as the assistant general manager from 2018-26, working for many years under current Penguins GM Kyle Dubas. He initially joined the Leafs as a special assistant to the GM, a position he held from 2014-18.
Pridham and the Maple Leafs parted ways in May, as the team reshaped its front office under new general manager John Chayka.

The 24-year-old recorded 16 goals and 16 assists in 78 games last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Drafted by Toronto as the 53rd overall pick in 2019, Robertson has 48 goals and 40 assists in 234 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs.
He was traded from Toronto to Pittsburgh for a fourth-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft on July 1.

The Jets traded forward David Gustafsson to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenceman Jack St. Ivany , the teams announced on Monday.
Gustafsson was a second-round pick of the Jets in the 2018 NHL Draft. He made his debut the following season, registering one goal across 22 games while making 13 appearances for AHL affiliate the Manitoba Moose, posting seven points.
Last season, he was limited to just 48 games with the Moose, in which he totalled a career-high 32 points.
