Ducks’ Chris Kreider clears waivers, enters unrestricted free agency

Chris Kreider cleared waivers Thursday and is available to sign with any team, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported .

The Anaheim Ducks waived Kreider for the purposes of contract termination on Wednesday in an effort to ease their salary-cap crunch. The veteran forward was due a $6.5-million cap hit this season, but only $4 million in real cash.

The St. Louis Blues forward told reporters Thursday that he's "not happy" with the way things went down in Anaheim following an off-season trade from the Ducks.

"Yeah, I think I have a chip on my shoulder, for sure," McTavish said to Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic . "I'm not happy with the way things went in Anaheim. I enjoyed my time there; it was awesome, guys were great, but at the same time, they traded me. That's something I'm passionate about and want to get better. I'm looking forward to doing that here."

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks will retire the number of longtime captain Ryan Getzlaf during a ceremony Jan. 30. Ducks owners Henry and Susan Samueli announced the honour Tuesday for Getzlaf, who retired in April 2022 after a 17-year NHL career spent entirely in Anaheim. Getzlaf is the top scorer in Ducks history, racking up 1,019 points in a franchise-record 1,157 games while also becoming the team's career assists leader and its top playoff scorer. He was the Ducks' captain for his final 12 seasons, the longest tenure in team history. Canadiens, Ducks make minor-league trade

The Canadiens acquired forward Sasha Pastujov from the Ducks in exchange for forward Sean Farrell, the teams announced on Monday.

Pastujov, who has yet to appear in an NHL game, played 71 games for the AHL's San Diego Gulls in 2025-26, recording 21 goals and 36 assists.

Farrell, 24, last appeared in the NHL during the 2022-23 season, where he played six games with one goal.

For the AHL's Laval Rocket in 2025-26, Farrell had 17 goals and 36 assists in 72 games.

The NHL honored seven teams at the 2026 Stanley Awards in Denver on Wednesday.

As the Colorado Avalanche host the NHL Club Business Meetings from July 13 to 16, the eighth-ever Stanley Awards ceremony recognized club business and marketing achievements from the 2025-26 season.

Avalanche broadcaster Marc Moser hosted the ceremony, while presenters included former NHLer Anson Carter, University of Denver coach David Carle, former Denver Broncos player Ryan Harris and X Games CEO Jeremy Bloom.

An external judging panel consisting of leaders in the sports and entertainment industry chose winners for eight categories from 161 club entries. Here are those Stanley Award winners:

Flyers Tender Offer Sheet to Anaheim's Leo Carlsson 5 x $18M!

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Daniel Briere has issued the following statement:

“The Philadelphia Flyers have tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson. The offer is a five-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $18M, which would require four of the Flyers first-round draft picks in each of the next four seasons as compensation."

The Anaheim Ducks have seven days to exercise their right of first refusal on the player, per section 10.3 of the NHL collective bargaining agreement.

Ducks sign A.J. Greer to four-year deal

A.J. Greer is locked in with the Anaheim Ducks one day after being shipped to the West Coast in a trade with the Florida Panthers.

Anaheim signed Greer to a four-year deal with an annual-average value of $4.25 million on Tuesday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Greer was dealt to the Ducks by Florida on Monday in exchange for defenceman Radko Gudas, as the two teams swapped pending unrestricted free agents.

The 29-year-old Greer played for the Panthers the past two seasons and helped the team hoist the Stanley Cup in 2024-25.

The Hurricanes acquired the rights to the pending unrestricted free agent in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, the teams announced Saturday.

The Ducks got the 192nd overall pick from Carolina at the draft, along with minor-league defenceman Kyle Masters

Carlson, a longtime Washington Capitals defenceman, was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks ahead of last season’s trade deadline.

Ducks trade Mason McTavish to Blues

Mason McTavish ’s time with the Anaheim Ducks has come to an end.

Anaheim traded the 23-year-old forward to the St. Louis Blues , commissioner Gary Bettman announced at the NHL Draft on Friday.

The Ducks get the Nos. 15 and 29 picks in the first round of this year's draft in return. Anaheim took Saginaw Spirit winger Nikita Klepov, the OHL's leading scorer last season, with the No. 15 pick minutes after making the deal.

The first year of McTavish’s six-year deal ($7 million cap hit) with the Ducks did not go according to plan. McTavish fell out of favour with new coach Joel Quenneville, who slashed his ice time from 16:53 to 15:19 per game and scratched him at points during the team’s first playoff appearance in eight years.

Sabres acquire defenceman Olen Zellweger in swap with Ducks

The Sabres acquired defenceman Olen Zellweger from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for centre prospect Anton Wahlberg and the 45th-overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft on Friday .

Zellweger, a second-round pick (34th overall) of the Ducks in 2021, made his NHL debut in January 2024. The 22-year-old put up 22 points with 15 assists and added a goal and an assist in three playoff games last season.

Wahlberg was taken 39th overall in the 2023 draft by the Sabres. In 68 games with AHL Rochester last season, he had 29 assists and 38 points. The 20-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut.

With the acquisition of the 45th pick, the Ducks now own seven selections in the 2026 NHL Draft, including two second-rounders but no first-rounder.
