Report: Arizona State investigating Blues prospect’s collapse after workout

Arizona State University is investigating the circumstances around Matthew Mayich's collapse last Thursday.
The university is looking into a workout that led to Mayich's collapse and subsequent hospitalization, according to a report from The Athletic 's Kate Strand and Jeremy Rutherford on Tuesday.
Mayich, 21, is a defenceman on the Arizona State hockey team and was drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues . He remained in hospital on Wednesday.
“A student-athlete who collapsed during an outdoor exercise Thursday morning remains hospitalized,” ASU vice president of media relations Chris Fiscus told The Athletic . “The student-athlete, a member of the ASU hockey team, is not being named by the university because of privacy interests. The university is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the workout.”
