Red Wings Claim Rugged D Man on Waivers
from Detroit Hockey Now,
The Detroit Red Wings claimed tough Swedish journeyman defenseman Andreas Englund from the Calgary Flames on waivers in a move that may have implications on interim GM Shawn Horcoff’s final roster decisions.
Last season, Englund, 30, played 24 games with the Nashville Predators and 52 games for their American League affiliate in Milwaukee. With Simon Edvinsson still unsigned and Jacob Bernard-Docker injured, Englund may be insurance against that uncertainty.
