Fans of the St. Louis Blues have gotten used to watching their team heat up in spring after they’ve already played themselves out of contention, but they thought 2024-25 would be different. Led by coach Jim Montgomery, that season’s Blues really seemed to gel during the 4 Nations Faceoff break and came within two seconds of knocking off the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Winnipeg Jets in the first round. St. Louis looked like it had built something that could work in 2025-26 and beyond.
