Ex-Devils Goaltender Pitches Shutout in First Game With Panthers
from New Jersey Hockey Now,
If you didn’t see this coming, you haven’t been paying attention. Ex- New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom already pitched a shutout in his first game for the Florida Panthers.
The Devils moved Markstrom on June 30 with Angus Crookshank for Evan Rodrigues , Jesper Boqvist and Ben Steeves, eating none of the two-year, $12 million extension ex-Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald handed him in November. Three months later he opened the season in Raleigh, spoiled Carolina’s banner night, and walked out with a 15-save shutout in a 1-0 overtime win. Gustav Forsling ended it with 4.3 seconds left. According to Hockey Game Bot , Markstrom made +1.46 saves above expected.
