AUG. 31 UPDATE: We’re starting to see some meaningful movement. Training camps haven’t opened yet but, with the season starting late next month and the camps shortened this year, it seems like nuggets of player news are trickling in earlier than normal. We’ve gotten a few important injury updates – plus a formal trade request from an elite player – since my previous edition of the rankings, and the corresponding player value changes are reflected here. Is it that time already? Well, the 2026-27 NHL season opens Sept. 29, the earliest puck drop since 2007-08, meaning we should start waking our fantasy hockey brains up.
