Kapanen picking up speed with some of NHL’s fastest skating for Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers right wing posted the fastest maximum skating speed of any NHL forward this season at 24.05 miles per hour in a 3-1 win at the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 10. Only St. Louis Blues defenseman Philip Broberg has clocked faster with a burst of 24.26 mph in a 5-2 loss at the Nashville Predators on Oct. 17.
