Canucks sign defenceman Zeev Buium to eight-year extension, $9.38M AAV
from Sportsnet,
The Vancouver Canucks have locked up one of their young stars for the long haul.
The Canucks and defenceman Zeev Buium agreed to an eight-year, $75.04-million contract extension on Friday, the team announced.
"I think, personally, I wanted to be here for eight years — I didn't want it to be shorter. I'm really glad," Buium said over Zoom after signing the extension. "I love the city, I love the fanbase, I love where this organization's going and, like I said, I want to be a Canuck. I want to be here."
Buium, 20, was acquired by the Canucks last season in the blockbuster trade that sent Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild.
